Higher cheese sales in the US have driven a rise in quarterly profits at Canadian dairy giant Saputo.

The company said today (6 February) that third-quarter revenues jumped 25.6% to C$1.3bn (US$1.3bn) during the three months to 31 December.


Sales rose thanks to a contribution from the Land O’Lakes West Coast industrial cheese business, which Saputo acquired in February last year.


The jump in turnover drove a 17.8% rise in net earnings to C$11.4m.
