The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning consumers allergic to soy protein not to consume “Pain à l’Ancienne” brand Rye Bread because it contains soy protein that is not declared on the label.

The “Pain à l’Ancienne” brand Rye Bread is sold in a 675g package bearing the UPC 7 79724 30010 8.  All best before dates up to and including 23 MR 02 are affected by this recall.  The best before date appears on the bag closure. The distributor, Pain à l’Ancienne located in St-Jerome, Quebec is voluntarily recalling this product from the marketplace. The product is distributed in Quebec only.


The consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to soy protein. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
