Canadian pork producer Du Breton Natural Pork has resumed operations one week after a fire destroyed its plant and headquarters in Quebec.

The cause of the fire last Tuesday evening is still being investigated, but there were no injuries or fatalities. Total damage is estimated to be C$45m (US$). Today, the company begins processing 100% of its natural pork line at a plant near Quebec City.
“After such a devastating event, we are encouraged that we are back in production after only one week,” said general manager Vincent Breton. “Our team has worked tirelessly to get us back on track. Our first shipment will go out Thursday evening.”
At this time, the company has not decided if it will build a new plant but is looking at every option. Breton explained that it’s too early to make a decision and that the company is focusing on resuming operations and keeping as many employees working as possible.
