Hershey Canada has voluntarily recalled 25 chocolate and snack products because they may be contaminated with salmonella.


Only products with date codes from 6417 to 6455, produced from October 15 to November 10, are affected by this alert. The date codes can be found on the back of each unit, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, which is monitoring the recall, advised. The recall does not affect Halloween or Christmas items.


Products affected by the recall include: Hershey Chipits Milk Chocolate Chips (270 grams); Hershey’s Creamy Milk Chocolate With Almonds (43 grams); Hershey’s Creamy Milk Chocolate (45 grams); Oh Henry! (62.5, 145 grams); Oh Henry! (4 bars/62.5 grams); Oh Henry! Bites (130 grams); Oh Henry! Peanut Butter (60 grams); Hershey Chipits Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (350 grams, 2 kg); Hershey Chipits Mini Chocolate Chips (175, 300, 500 grams, 10 kg); Hershey Chipits Chocolate Chip Bulk (10 kg); Hershey Chipits Semi-Sweet Mint Chocolate Chips (300 grams); Hershey Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (300 grams, 10 kg); Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate (45 grams); Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate with Almonds (43 grams); Reese Peanut Butter Cups (51, 68 grams and 4 bar pkg/51 grams); Lowney Cherry Blossom (45 grams); Glosette Peanuts (45 grams); Glosette Almond (42 grams); Glosette Raisin (50 grams, 145 grams); ershey’s Chocolate Shell Topping (177 ml); Eat-more Dark Toffee Peanut Chew (56 grams, 4 bars/56 grams); Lowney Bridge Mix (52, 340 grams); Hershey Assorted (16 c ount/728 grams); Hershey Assorted (50 count/2.5 kg); Nut Roll 5 kg.


These products may have been distributed nationally.


There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

The source of the contamination is believed to be an ingredient from an outside supplier sent to the company’s plant in Smiths Falls, east of Ottawa. The factory has been temporarily shut down.
