La Flèche will succeed Pierre Lessard who is to retire when his contract expires in April.
“The appointment of M. La Flèche is in line with the company’s succession plan,” said Metro chairman Maurice Jodoin. “The succession of the chief executive officer comes from within its own ranks in an orderly and harmonious way.”
La Flèche, 45, joined Metro in 1991, and has been executive vice president and chief operating officer since January 2005.
