Canadian retailer Loblaw has reached an agreement with 8,500 striking workers in Alberta.

Loblaw employees voted in favour of the new contract in a ballot yesterday (10 October), bringing to an end a strike that started on Sunday.

The UFCW union, representing the retail workers, said the new agreement put forward “a number of significant improvements over and above the company’s last offer”. No further details on terms and conditions were provided. 

UFCW members in Saskatchewan and Manitoba will be balloted on new contractual agreements over the next two weeks, Loblaw said.
