Canadian food distributor Loblaw has said it is to close six warehouse facilities in Ontario and Quebec over the next three years as part of a plan to streamline its supply chain network.
The move will lead to the loss of around 1,400 jobs. The company said the benefits of these measures would include cost savings, improved margins, a smoother flow of products to the stores and better service levels to its customers.
Loblaw is Canada’s largest food distributor, employing over 130,000 full-time and part-time employees.
