The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Unilever are warning people with allergies not to consumer various Fleischmann’s brand margarine products which may contain milk protein not listed on the label, the agency said.

The products affected are particular batches of lactose free, non hydrogenated margarine and salt free, lactose free non hydrogenated margarine.
Unilever Canada is voluntarily recalling the affected products, the agency said. Consumption of the affected products may cause a serious or life threatening reaction in persons with sensitivities to milk protein, it said. The agency is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
