Production of grain and forage crops in the north-eastern United States and Eastern Canada is being devastated by an infiltration of a new pest, army worms. Farmers in the region are spraying copious amounts of pesticide to prevent the worms from spreading but are finding the costs high. More than 12,000 hectares of land have been devoured in New Brunswick, Canada, and another 500 in neighbouring Nova Scotia, for instance.
