In mid-May company executives met with municipal authorities from the urban planning and development department in order to evaluate the technical and legal feasibility of the project. The proposal has reportedly been warmly received by borough authorities, who believe it could attract other investors and generate jobs.

The borough has already several other big supermarkets, such as Ekono, which is owned by D&S Holding, Monserrat and Unimarc.

The French company has a US$150m budget to back its expansion plans in Chile. Developing its previous stores in the boroughs of Cerrillos and Macul cost US$20m and US$24m respectively, while its branch in Las Condes cost US$10m.
