“Protests were staged outside stores in Beijing, Changsha, Fuzhou, Chongqing and Shenyang,” a Carrefour spokesperson told just-food. “It is too early to see the overall extent that sales will be damaged, but certainly sales at the affected stores have dropped.”
Just-food learnt yesterday that Chinese consumers have been urged to boycott the French retailer on Monday, which is a holiday in China.
This has led Carrefour to cancel planned sales and marketing activity.
