Semmaris, the operator of Paris’ giant wholesale market Rungis, has ratified its draft agreement with the Shenzen Agricultural Products Company (SZAP) to create a venture dedicated to wholesale food markets in China.
Semmaris has a 33.4% stake in the Shanghai Rungis Market Management Company, which will initially run a wholesale market currently under construction in Nanning, capital of China’s Guangxi province. The market has been designed by Semmaris.
SZAP manages 28 wholesale food markets in 19 Chinese cities.
The joint venture will also allow trading links to be established between Chinese and French wholesalers for fresh food produce, Semmaris added.
