“The Chinese ice cream market has achieved double-digit growth in the past couple of years,” a Nestle spokesperson explained. “The opening of this new factory reflects this growth.”
While Nestle declined to provide a detailed breakdown of its activities in the Chinese market, the company stressed the potential offered by the region.
“Ice cream is a trend in China and we have seen a growing demand. We are responding to this,” Nestle said.
The factory, which opened at the beginning of this week, will produce 64m litres of ice cream on an annual basis.
