A team of agricultural scientists organised by the Shanxi University of Agriculture has developed a new breed of millet, called Dungu No 1. With its ability to withstand droughts, disease and weather, the millet will mean dramatically higher yields of 15,525kg per hectare, three to four times the amount gathered from existing species, and it is expected to be introduced to all provinces in north China soon.
