An official from the US Department of Agriculture has indicated that the country could soon allow processed poultry imports from China.

Richard Raymond, USDA undersecretary for food safety told Dow Jones in an interview that no danger remains from bird flu because China will be required to cook the poultry as part of processing. Avian influenza, which has infected humans in Asia, has never yet been found in the US.


According to the report, the USDA still requires approval by the White House Office of Management and Budget before such trade is allowed.
