China’s sugar output is expected to achieve a record high of 9.5m tons in the year 2002 to 2003, up one million tons from last year.

The prediction was made by Jia Zhiren, president of the China Sugar Industry Association, at a national conference on sugar production and sales.

The conference also discussed the low sugar price and measures to stabilise the price on the Chinese market, reported Xinhua News Agency.
