Want Want has incorporated a 99%-owned subsidiary, Nanjing Ming-Want Agricultural Eco Park, to undertake the operations, which include breeding high grade dairy cows, producing fresh milk, selling farm produce and other ancillary activities.

“The group believes the future is promising for the dairy market in China with the current low per capita consumption of dairy products, strong economic growth resulting in higher consumer income, and the increasing dairy products consumption in the last few years,” Want Want was quoted by AFX Asia as saying.

GK Goh Securities said the venture could prove too risky: “Expertise has to be brought in for this new business and there could be risks associated with live stock rearing,” it said.
