UK retailer Tesco is launching its own-brand products in China in the first step towards releasing 500 of its ‘value’ products onto the shelves of 41 stores in the next few months.
It will signify the first time that the Tesco name has appeared in the Hymall stores, in which Tesco owns a 50% stake.
The products, called Le Goe Tesco value, include essential items like tissues, shower gel, biscuits and noodles and will be locally sourced.
Tesco spokesperson Greg Sage told just-food: “The Chinese consumer has an appetite for great value and quality, and if we can offer this then the range could be a great success for us.”
