Chinese dairy giant Yili has announced a deal on a “strategic partnership” with Italian peer Sterilgarda Alimenti.
Yili revealed the agreement in a filing with the Shanghai stock exchange, although it did not provide further details.
Officials at Yili could not be reached for immediate comment. Sterilgarda did not return a request for comment.
Yili is one of China’s largest dairy products companies. Last month, the Chinese government named Yili one of six “national champion” companies it plans to help financially in its bid to build a strong domestic infant formula sector.
Sterilgarda produces a range of dairy products, as well as fruit juice and passata.
