Chobani yoghurt is being used in products on sale at McDonald’s outlets in southern California.

The US fast-food giant said its McDonald’s Fruit ‘N Yogurt Parfait and McCafé Smoothies are being made with Chobani Non-Fat Vanilla Greek Yoghurt.

The lines will be part of McDonald’s new Simple Delights menu, which it says offers “balanced options” to its customers.

Peter McGuinness, Chobani’s chief marketing and brand officer, said the products were on sale in 800 restaurants in the state. “We’ve always believed in democratising better food and McDonald’s is a really powerful partner for us to do that with,” he said.

Chobani is targeting the US foodservice sector. Last month, just-food reported on how Chobani had acquired a production line to supply foodservice customers in the country.

The US foodservice sector, continued growth in the market’s retail channel and building its international business are three strategies being used by Chobani to grow its top line.
