Korean food maker CJ Foods is launching Asian inspired seaweed crisps to the better-for-you US snack sector under its Annie Chun's brand.

The range includes three varieties: original salted, cinnamon and gochujang. The seaweed crisps contain 80 calories and 1.5 grams of fat per serving.

"Seaweed has quickly become a green, go-to, low calorie food that's packed with nutrients, including being high in Vitamin C," said Nayoung Shin, head of marketing at CJ Foods. "Annie Chun's new seaweed crisps bring more innovation to the snack aisle by layering our best-selling seaweed snacks on top of hearty and crispy brown rice then oven-baking them to perfection, which makes them very appealing to consumers looking to satisfy their crunch cravings while incorporating seaweed into their diets."

Annie Chun's seaweed crisps will be available at Target Corp. and Kroger-owned Ralphs stores throughout the US with an RRP of US$3.49.
