French dairy giant Danone has formed a joint venture with Alqueria to enter the Colombian fresh dairy market.
The two companies will cooperate in the production and distribution of fresh dairy products in Colombia.
The move is part of its ongoing strategy to increase its presence in the Latin American fresh dairy market.
The joint venture, Danone said, will benefit from Alqueria’s milk supply and Danone’s technical and marketing experience and worldwide distribution network. Alqueria is the leading dairy group in the Bogota region.
Danone believes that the Colombian fresh dairy market offers considerable scope for growth, with low annual per capita consumption of just three kilograms.
