Canadian organic produce firm Courchesne Larose has struck a deal to acquire 50% of Dandrea Produce, a US produce grower and importer based in New Jersey.
Frank Dandrea, president of Dandrea Produce, said the move would extend the company's reach and revealed the combined business will generate revenues of US$600m annually.
"Our synergistic strategies with them enable us to now service the entire eastern seaboard including Canada. Courchesne Larose is a tremendously respected company and their association with Dandrea Produce will enrich us globally," he said.
Michel Routhier, part of the Routhier family that owns Courchesne Larose, added: "We have been looking long and hard for a partner who could enhance our global presence and Dandrea is that partner."
The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
