Danone has completed an EUR13.5m (US$15.3m) investment at its Rotselaar factory in Belgium to support the production of spoonable yoghurts.
The new production at the site is a result of "optimisation" across the group's production network, which included some "factory closures and redistribution of production", a spokesperson said. Last summer, Danone said it would shut plants in Italy, Germany and Hungary.

The spokesperson said the Rotselaar factory had produced drinkable yoghurts in a 100ml format under the Actimel, Danaco and Danonino brands for export across Europe.
The investment will see the production of spoonable yoghurts and has seen new technologies installed at the factory.
The Rotselaar factory has taken over production of Actimel and of spoonable yoghurt Vitasnella from the factory in Italy. Vitasnella will be produced exclusively for the Italian market, while 95% of the drinkable yoghurts will be exported across Europe.
