Dannon, the US subsidiary of French dairy giant Danone, has confirmed plans to relocate its headquarters from Greenburgh to White Plains in New York State, but remaining in the county of Westchester.

Dannon said in a statement released by the Westchester County government that key factors in the move to 100 Bloomingdale Road included “the development of a modern, flexible workplace that will fully leverage technology, enhance collaboration, and align with the company’s unique culture and global brand”.

According to the statement the new HQ, which will include Dannon’s “innovative accessory food laboratory… will become home to more than 400 Danoners beginning early next year”. Investment costs were not disclosed.

Dessislava Miteva, the company’s chief people officer and VP of human resources said: “We want as much open space as possible to maintain the sense of community we currently have, to encourage informal and ad hoc communication, and to ensure as much freedom and autonomy as possible in an energetic and exciting workplace. Additionally, being within walking distance to restaurants, shopping and mass transit are important for our company.”

Miteva welcomed backing from Westchester and New York city and state authorities which Dannon said included financial assistance and and support in approving construction plans.

Last July, Dannon launched its first ranges of non-GMO yogurts in the US under the Dannon, Oikos and Danimals brands, with plans to develop its non-GMO products over time.
