Her new tenure at the marketing and processing division of the farmer-owned Northwest Dairy Association (NDA) will start on 1 October.
Humphreys takes over from Allan Huttema, who, according to Darigold, “led the company through a pivotal period beginning in 2023”.
Huttema was initially appointed as interim CEO in December 2023, following the departure of Joe Coote, and was confirmed as CEO in April 2024.
He is set to return to his Idaho dairy farm as a member-owner of the NDA, the Seattle-based group said.

By GlobalDataTim Kuenzi, chairman of Darigold’s board and an NDA member in Oregon, added: “Allan stepped in at a critical time, and we made some significant progress under his leadership – standing up Pasco, improving operations, and strengthening our already capable leadership team.”
As Humphreys assumes the leadership role, Darigold said it is inaugurating its 12th production facility in Pasco, Washington.
In addition to her previous stint at Darigold, Humphreys has held executive positions across various sectors, including food manufacturing and petroleum.
Her career included working as president and CEO of Icicle Seafoods from 2013 to 2015 and as president of Delta Western between 2009 and 2012.
Humphreys’ board experience includes chairman and director level positions at Premera Blue Cross, FirstFruits Farms (since 2019), and American Seafoods (2015–2023).
She is also a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s Economic Advisory Council, a role she has held since 2021.
Commenting on Humphreys’ appointment, Kuenzi said: “Amy brings a proven track record in leadership with vertically integrated food businesses like Darigold and a keen focus on business performance, responsible and sustainable resource management, value expansion, and business transformation – all critical skills as Darigold continues our transformation aimed at modernisation and growth.”
Darigold processes approximately ten billion pounds of milk annually and offers a range of dairy products catering to retail, foodservice, and commodity markets.
