Dairy giant Arla Foods is to cut jobs at its cheese dairy in Holstebro, Denmark.
The loss of 21 jobs, a spokesperson for Arla told just-food today (9 June), are due to the company losing a private label contract in Germany.

“We had an adjustment of staff size in Holstebro,” an Arla spokesperson said. “We have a few dairies in that region, this one specialises in cream cheese. But due to a lost order on private-label cream cheese, until we regain market share, there will remain a reduction in production.”
Arla Foods, which employed 240 staff at the site, said that despite the cuts, growth is continuing.
“We are seeing growth in a lot of areas, particularly in own-label cream cheese. We are confident of seeing growth and we are always trying to gain market share,” the spokesman said.
“[Germany] is growing every year, at double digit percentage rates. So this is not a symptomatic loss, we are experiencing growth at the moment.
