The deal, which was finalised for an undisclosed amount, will be effective from 31 March this year.

The crispy onion activities involve a production site in Holland and a sales office in Germany; and the sale will affect all 58 employees at the Dutch factory in St. Maartensdijk and six staff members at the German sales office in Grevenbroich.

Danisco said that the sale is a natural consequence of its strategic focus on development, production and sales of food ingredients. Danisco wants to be the leading supplier of ingredients for the global food industry. The strategy to refocus, which is proceeding according to plan, was launched in 1999 and is now virtually complete.

Rieber & Søn is publicly listed on the Norwegian stock exchange and has already production and sales activities with crispy onions.
