The programme will provide free fruit-boxes to students in 250 schools in the greater Copenhagen area.


The government is working to a plan to phase-out the sale of “unhealthy snacks and soft drinks” in vending machines located on school grounds by 2009, while replacing these foods with milk, waters and high protein foods.


The latest reports indicate that only one in five Danish children consumed sufficient fruit and vegetables in 2006.
