The company, which is Europe’s largest meat processor, is looking to close its facilities on Thetford and Bromborough, as well as its slaughtering department in Linton.

Danish Crown said production would be switched to other sites run by UK subsidiary Tulip. Production of fried bacon at Thetford will be moved to a facility in Bodmin.

Tulip’s Boston site will take on the production of boiled and sliced cooked meats from the Bromborough facility.

A Danish Crown spokesperson said the company’s UK business had grown in recent years through a series of acquisitions and the group wanted to revamp its operations in the country.
