Dole Food Co. has launched a range of frozen fruit products in the UK.

The US group said the move is to “encourage the nation to lead healthier lives by increasing their fruit intake”. The new product is available in resealable freezer pouches containing “100% perfectly ripe fruit, that is picked and frozen at optimal ripeness within hours of being harvested, meaning it is never out of season”.

The frozen fruits are available in six varieties. Dole sliced strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and a fourth line – triple berry – are available in 350g resealable freezer pouches. Tropical gold pineapple and tropical mix lines are available in 400g resealable pouches. 

The packs “make them ideal for smoothies as well as for breakfast toppings, for cooking and in baking,” a Dole spokesperson said.

The new range, which is also set to be launched in Ireland, is initially available in Sainsbury’s and Morrisons stores in the UK at an RRP of GBP2.29 (US$2.92), “with other major customers to launch in the near future”, the spokesperson said.
