East-West Specialty Sauces, a US-based business focused on Asia-inspired condiments, has been bought by an undisclosed “strategic” buyer.
Britehorn Partners, the US investment bank and adviser behind the deal, made the disclosure in a statement, and said Judy Koyama, the founder and chief executive of Denver, Colorado-based East-West, is set to leave the company.
Jasmine Koyama Reeves, the firm’s chief operating officer, will remain. She said: “This sale to such an outstanding partner will help us to meaningfully expand our business, both in terms of product offerings, channel of trade and geography.”
Founded in 1991, East-West is a family-owned manufacturer of private label and branded cooking sauces, and also provides a co-packaging and formulation service. It supplies to retailers and foodservice outlets.
Outgoing CEO Koyama added: “East-West is a truly special company with long-standing relationships and commitments to our customers, suppliers, employees as well as to the Denver community.”
just-food has contacted East-West for more information on its products and markets, and to get an idea of who will lead the business after Koyama’s departure.
