Dutch meat and mince-based products supplier Group of Butchers had made its second acquisition in Germany in quick succession.
On the back of October’s deal to buy peer Hartmann, the company has now acquired family-run meat business Gmyrek Group for an undisclosed sum.
Gmyrek, now based in Weilandmoor, was established in Silesia in 1904 by two brothers – including the great-grandfather of the most recent owners – who set up a sausage factory.
Group of Butchers is majority owned by the London-based private equity firm Equistone Partners Europe.
It bought the stake in January 2017.
Group of Butchers mainly operates in the Netherlands and Belgium but at the time of the Hartmann deal, Remko Rosman, its chief executive, described its first venture into Germany as an “important and extremely interesting proposition for us”.
