A European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) working group on TSE testing has approved one new rapid BSE test and two for TSEs in sheep and goats.
It has recommended the European Commission approve the Fujirebio FRELISA (of Japan) post mortem rapid BSE test for checking cattle, but not a ‘Priontype’ post mortem rapid BSE test, of Labor Diagnostik GmbH Leipzig, Germany.
It has recommended approval for two IDEXX Herdchek, of the USA, InPro CDI-5 tests to check for scrapie and BSE in brainstem samples of sheep, but not a Fuijrebio FRELISA post mortem test for sheep and goats.
