The EFSA’s advice covers the wordings of claims, tests, documentation, and data collection to help food manufacturers comply with EU regulations on nutritional and health claims.

Information should be provided about how the food is manufactured, the product’s composition, its physical and chemical characteristics, as well as its stability and bioavailability, the EFSA said.

Claims covered under the guidance include those on the reduction of disease and on children’s development and health. The EFSA said: “Health claims should be substantiated by taking into account the totality of the available scientific data and by weighing the evidence.”
