The US imposed higher duties on mustard, foie gras and some other French products in response to an EU ban on hormone-enhanced beef from the US.

The French mustard makers had complained that the US tariffs were illegal under WTO rules because they targeted condiments from France but not other EU countries, leading to an increase in exports of UK mustard, reported Dow Jones.

However, the EU court rejected the complaint, saying the increase in UK exports was small and not sufficient for the EU to take action against the US.
