The Association of European Airlines (AEA) fears the new rules could apply to their in-flight meals and snacks, forcing a redesign and repackaging of all food headed to European airports and airlines, raising costs.
“[European] airlines might relocate their catering to caterers outside the EU in order to avoid additional costs linked to the new labelling requirements,” the AEA explained in its report.
European Parliament and EU ministers will discuss the proposed law later this year.
