Geoffrey Podger, currently chief executive of the UK Food Standards Agency has been praised on his formal appointment by the EU authority’s board. Stuart Slorach said that Podger, a career civil servant, has “the knowledge and experience that we need, having led the development of a national food agency. This means that we can now make real progress on the path to full operational status.”
This, he said, would include the creation of the authority’s advisory forum, its scientific committee and panels, as well as recruiting the main body of its staff.
