Other adopted amendments agreed by the parliament’s environment committee to a new proposed directive now under discussion include an extension of the compulsory labelling list to include mustard. This is often used in ready-to-eat meals and can cause severe anaphylactic reactions.
MEPs also want lupin declared on labels, which is used to make lupin flour. These changes must be agreed by the full parliament to be carried forward. MEPs have the right of veto regarding this proposal.
