The EU’s Trade Commissioner Pascal Lamy is to travel to Istanbul and Ankara this week to discuss bilateral trade issues, including Turkey’s ban on imports of beef.

The visit will be coupled with the Fourth Euro-Med trade ministerial conference, which Lamy will co-chair in Istanbul on 21 July.

The Commission said a large part of Lamy’s visit will be devoted to seeking a satisfactory resolution of long-lasting bilateral trade problems, such as the Turkish ban on imports of beef.
