“We would like to use other retail outlets – convenience stores, Sainsbury’s or Tesco,” Russ Smyth, president of McDonald’s Europe, was quoted by the Sunday Times as saying.

McDonald’s new range of food, which is to include wraps and baguettes, is aimed at turning around the company’s unhealthy image.

McDonald’s also plans to do away with plastic chairs and foam packaging. From next January cardboard cartons will replace the foam cartons that McDonalds’s burgers have previously been sold in.

The company is refurbishing its restaurants in Europe, with hundreds of outlets due to get the new look next year.
