Ferrero, the privately-owned confectionery giant, is investing in the “modernisation” of its ice cream plant in Spain.
The move is intended to make the Ice Cream Factory Comaker (ICFC) plant in Alzira, Valencia the group’s European “technology hub for ice cream development”, according to a statement from the Italian firm.

The €140m ($162.3m) project will expand capacity, “modernise” processes and roll out new technologies. New production lines will be installed before 2030.
The plant will manufacture new branded products but the Nutella and Ferrero Rocher brands owner also said it will “cease” private-label production at Alzira by the end of 2026.
The site will play a “pivotal” role in growing the company’s branded ice-cream portfolio across Europe under a “long-term” growth plan, added the statement.
The move affects only the Alzira facility, with operations at all other Ferrero ice-cream plants continuing unchanged.

The company acquired a controlling stake in the ICFC plant in 2019 and fully acquired it two years later.
In April, Ferrero set out plans to invest C$445m (then $321m) to expand its production site in Brantford, Canada. The investment included the installation of production lines for Nutella biscuits and Ferrero Rocher chocolate squares, a statement from the Ontario government said.
Additionally, in August last year, the Tic Tac brand owner announced plans to invest approximately €170m (then $189m) in upgrading its Stadtallendorf facility in central Germany.
