Raisio, the Finland-based food group behind the Benecol brand, today (17 August) posted a fall in second-quarter profits despite rising sales.

The company booked net profit of EUR2.1m (US$2.7m) for the three months to the end of June compared to net profit of EUR3.1m a year earlier.

Raisio said its bottom line had been affected by “unrealised losses from fund investments”.

However, Raisio’s EBIT reached EUR6m against EUR4.5m in the second quarter of 2009. Second-quarter net sales climbed 22.6% to EUR120m.
