US branded food giant Kraft Foods, a subsidiary of tobacco giant Philip Morris, is eyeing up Finnish firms in its bid to get a large share of the local food market.

Dinyar Devitre, CFO of the Finnish arm of Kraft, told the business daily Kauppalehti earlier today [Thursday]: “We are actively looking for acquisition targets in Finland. It is the quickest way to come to markets.

“We are looking for firms which will complement our product range.”

Currently, Kraft has a strong presence in the Nordic region having acquired Estrella snack foods, Gevalia coffee and Marabou chocolate, but it has yet to focus directly on the Finnish market.
