Finnish food manufacturer HK Ruokatalo Oy has agreed to acquire slaughterhouse company Koiviston Teurastamo Oy.

Ruokatalo said today [Tuesday] that it would acquire Koiviston for an undisclosed sum. Koiviston is Finland’s seventh-largest meat company with over 50 employees and annual revenues of €35.2m (US$33.4m). The company focuses on buying and slaughtering pigs.


“If it goes through, the deal will generate major industrial synergetic benefits to Ruokatalo and considerably strengthen the availability of domestic raw meat material.


“Conversely, Koiviston Teurastamo will gain access to HK Ruokatalo’s marketing channels in an environment where retailer concatenation calls for nationwide goods deliveries,” HK Ruokatalo said in a statement.
