France-based fresh produce group Florette has announced plans for a EUR9m (US$9.9m) investment into its Spanish operations during 2016.
Some EUR7m will fund improvements processes and improving product quality and increasing capacity and EUR2m will fund R&D, the Agrial-owned company said. In addition, 5% of the investment will go to improving the environmental and social especially in their areas of activity environment.
This follows an investment of EUR5.5m last year, made to fund the the second stage of its Murcia plant expansion, the revamp of production facilities at Navarre and in research in development.
Florette said it expects to close 2015 with sales of EUR140m.
Earlier this year Florette launched a range of salad kits in Spain under the Menu Completo brand that offered consumers a complete meal. It contained chicken, salad leaves and either pasta or couscous. The company said there was increasing interest in "complete" lines like Menu Completo.
