The acquisition of Canadian vegetable processor Aliments Carrière has boosted quarterly sales at French group Bonduelle.

Vegetable specialist Bonduelle, which took full control of the Canadian firm in July, today (7 November) posted a 26.1% jump in first-quarter turnover to EUR368.8m (US$542m).

Bonduelle said its business had held up well despite “unfavourable” weather conditions during the summer.

Sales in Western Europe – historically Bonduelle’s key market – remained “strong”, the company said, but it is hoping the Aliments Carrière acquisition will give it greater exposure elsewhere.

Bonduelle said that a third of its business will remain in France, another third in the Eurozone and the final third in North America and central and Eastern Europe.
