Militant French farmer Jose Bove has been fined €3000 (US$2934) by a French court for destroying a field of genetically modified crops.

Bove and eight other activists, who were each fined €400, were found guilty of destroying GM oilseed crops in the French town of Foix near the Spanish border two years ago.

CETIOM, the research company that owned the crops, has said it will continue to run field trials of GM crops, reported Reuters.

Bove recently completed a three-month prison sentence for damaging a McDonald’s restaurant.
