The Meat and Livestock Commission (MLC) brokered a deal between the French and British governments after France threatened to accept imported lamb carcasses only over the age of six months with all the spinal cord removed.


This move would effectively have decimated Britain’s lamb export market. Currently, 70% of this market is generated by imports to France.
