Earlier this year, Boncolac sold its ice cream division to UK-based R&R Ice Cream. The company said its acquisition of Générale Pâtissière was part of a strategy to focus on frozen sweet and savoury products.

“Our ice-cream production was not of sufficient size given the concentration in the sector and we prefer to focus our investments on pâtisserie and frozen deli products where we have a stronger position,” Boncolac MD Philippe Carré said.

Further acquisitions could follow, funded through the sale of the ice cream division.

No-one was available to comment at Générale Pâtissière.
